Small and local… but further afield

I love to support small and local producers in Hampshire but going further afield means I stumble across other small businesses making delicious goodies I cant resist stocking in the shop. I agree, 500 miles is a long way to come but while I escaped up to the Isle of Mull this week, I visited one of my favourites: The Island Bakery. I eat these biscuits by the bucket load whenever I am up here and coincidentally a customer asked me to supply them - so I did! I went to visit their premises yesterday, which are powered by wind and water for electricity and they use wood for heating their ovens. They now have an honesty cabin outside their premises in Tobermory packed full of all their delicious biscuits so you can pick up a packet anytime from there - or from West Lea farm shop!

The Mull Bread Box is very local to me and Gary lives just up the road, producing his own very special sourdough. Anyone who knows me knows I love sourdough and the first morning I arrive, I saunter up the road with the dog and collect a loaf from Gary’s honesty box. One of my favourite things about visiting Mull among so many.
