on the telly

It’s been an exciting start to the summer at the shop - I was interviewed by celebrity chef James Martin on his ITV weekend show, James Martin’s Saturday Morning. I was thrilled to be asked to appear and in truth, when James’ team first got in touch at the start of the year, I suspected it was my friend Ant trying to wind me up again but it was a real email from James’ production company!

It’s fair to say I was feeling pretty nervous on the day, James put me at ease straight away and it was such fun to talk about our fantastic watercress, give our lovely shop a bit of a mention and celebrate what’s so special about Alresford in general. James is well known for supporting small and local businesses whether they are in Hampshire or across the country - I felt he was genuinely interested in what I am trying to do with the shop and our watercress growing methods.

Being a skilled multitasker whilst we were chatting, James made some delicious looking soup with the watercress I had delivered earlier and he also, seemingly effortlessly, made some amazing watercress butter and a very tasty looking watercress sodabread loaf.

It was great to see our watercress on the telly - huge thank you to James and his team for the opportunity to talk about the quality of Alresford's watercress and explain why watercress is such a brilliant ingredient.
